" I contacted the Academy for my son. My son seems to want to try his best, but the child's mother was not allowing him to see his son. This drove my son crazy and he had gotten arrested trying to see his son. The child's mother had took out a restraining order against him. I really could not teach him how to be a father, but as a mother I was concerned that he was having serious issues. I lost his father to violence when he was young. God bless the Academy for caring about young black fathers. They truly know what they are doing and my son has changed so much, after attending meetings, that he hold his head up and he gets visits all the time and learned how to positively co-parent. I am so happy for him today."

" I was a father incarcerated. I had completed more than 5 years in prison, away from my children. I did not get visits from my children while I was incarcerated. I was bitter and angry, but I still missed my kids. I got out on parole and I really did not know how to be a father. I had been locked up for the last five years. I was clean, I was sober, but I still did not know what being a father was all about.  I could not look my children in the face, after being away for so long. I did not have a job yet, had nothing to offer them. I found out about the Academy on Facebook. When I started following the Academy, I started learning stuff ,I did not know. So I contacted the Academy and I am so happy that I found this place. OMG, my whole life changed! I actually have a relationship with the kids mother, that is positive for the first time.  I got involved in my kids schooling. I never thought that would be something I would be doing. I felt like a man, a real man, my mind was wide open and I was thankful and blessed! Thank you Academy of Fathers!
